Active Rest

Rest Day...Active Rest Day.

It's supposed to be beautiful day in Chicago today. Lets take advantage of it and use our day out of the gym to do something else.  I don't mean lay on the couch and catch up on All My Children. Go for a jog.  Pull out the bike and hit a trail.  Go to Swallow's Cliff and run the stairs or jog up on the path.If you are training for a tri, maybe a swim.  Maybe just go to the park and play with the kids.

Active rest is the best form of recovery.  However, the intensity should be at a minimum.  That is why I said jog vs. run.  Take it easy.  Keep active, keep moving, just keep it simple.
